03 April More about my little emergencyThanks everyone for the comments. After I got up and started moving around, I realized it was WAY to soon to jump on a treadmill or elliptical. I just walked up and down the stairs here at home for about 10 mins and that was plenty. I think I was feeling better earlier when I wrote that. LOL! I am trying to stay away from taking the pain meds so I dont get addicited. (I have an addictive personality. That's another whole other story. LOL!) I took a nice nap until the phone started ringing. People just checking in on me. I took a picture of my belly with my cell phone. I should put that up. At least I had all that extra skin for that air to have a place to settle. LOL! I knew it would come in handy some day. LOL! When I went to put my clothes on the leave the hosiptal I was laughing saying that I was skinnier when I came in then when I left. LOL! Katie and I were also joking with the nurse asking if she knew how much a gall bladder weighed so I would know how much permanant weight I lost. LOL! Katie said I should have gone for a kidney or something bigger. LOL! Anyway, I will get after my hubby to put up those video blog and I will do one this weekend too during my recovery. Take care!
~~Wendy Emergencyhi everyone!
Well, Katie and I made a new v-blog but we haven't put it up yet. Monday I ended up having emergency surgery and having my gallbladder removed. UGH! Needles to say, it's been a long week. The only thing I am going to be allowed to do is to walk. In fact they are insisting that I get up and go for walks. In most cases you aren't allowed to do anything for a long time. I wanted to go outside and walk but it's raining so I will either have my hubby drop me off at the gym or i will try the elliptical and see if that works. They pump alot of air into your body in order to remove it so the only way to get it out is to get up and walk. So, I will get up and do my little shuffle walk here in a little bit. First thing will be a shower!!! Well, that's what is going on right now. I will try to keep up better.
~~Wendy 10 March It's almost overWell, it looks like this contest is about to end. I think I will keep the site up since we all worked so hard on building them. I met some really, really nice people and some not very honest people. But you know what, I am not going to let the one or two people who were dishonest ruin what we all worked so hard for. It was a lot of fun and I hope everyone will keep checking back for new video blogs from us as a team and individually.
I have a new business venture!! Please check out our website at: http://www.cornhuskerfitness.com 03 March Wonderful message- must readEveryone needs to read this. What a great message. One that some people need to "hear":
28 February How ya'll doing/Hi everyone!
Boy I am tired today. I did not sleep well last night and my tummy has been bothering me again. UGH! I am sure you are all tired of hearing that! I know I am tired of it too. Katie and I have been texting back and forth as to where to go for dinner Saturday night. My hubby and I are double dating with her and her new boyfriend. Oooooooooooo….let the romance begin! LOL! I won’t say much because I haven’t met him yet but I have heard a lot about him. “Eli this and Eli that”! LOL! Just kidding Katie! You know I am happy you met someone nice. J Anyway, I want to find a place that we can have some healthy options but we also have to watch price too. No Sushi for me. L I was just talking to a gal that I work with and I realized I have not had fried foods in probably 2 years now. I mean I have a French fry here and there (like one or two) but I have not eaten a whole serving of them or anything else fried in a VERY long time. You know, I don’t even miss it. It kinda smells gross too. My weakness is and always will be sweets. I LOVE desserts and candy!!
Well, I just wanted to touch base with you all to let you know I am still alive. Now we just need to get Katie to tell us ALL about her new man! LOL!
~~Wendy 21 February Hello!OK, I am not going to record my weight from last Saturday. The reason why is because I realized that the Alka-Seltzer that I was taking has 1,900mg of sodium in it and I was taking it 3 times a day!! Needless to say my weight jumped up 6 lbs in a matter of a week. I will weigh in this week and accept the outcome now that I am feeling better and able to work out. Just about everyone I work with has gotten that nasty flu. Well, I don’t have much time today but I at least wanted touch base with you all. Take care!!
~~Wendy 13 February illness updateWell, I am feeling better but my stomach is still really sour. I swear that if I have to eat any more dry toast, I am going to scream! I have been working out a little bit but my legs are so weak that I can’t really get my heart rate up. I hope this passes soon. It is really getting on my nerves. I smell other peoples’ food around me and it smells SO GOOD but if I would eat anything “solid”, it upsets my tummy. Well, I have been eating chicken soup that I made so I guess that resembles solid food. I don’t have much else to report. Just going to try and get well.
~~Wendy 09 February Katie Not WellWell, I have been enjoying doing my video blogs. Though they are slacking I enjoyed them. This week has been so whirlwind that I haven't been able to get one done and now I am sick!!! BLAH!! I see that Wendy is sick too. This has been such a long season of sickies.
Here's a pickle. To work out or not to workout? That is always my problem. While I LOVE the working out I know that my body is screaming for me to rest, please rest Katie. I haven't physically been to the gym since Tuesday; but I did workout to my Turbo Jam videos at home.
Ok, this challenge that Wendy has given me since the begining, has been going well. I am surprised. Asparagus is actually pretty good. I the hater of green veggies is craving asparagus. LOL!!! It must be working because I have officially broken out of the 230's and am running towards the low 220's. I found my 16's are now comfortable and not tight. WHOO HOO!!! Maybe I can get to 14's soon. There might be a muffin top for a few weeks; but heck, they's be a 14. Take the challenge with me. I have encorporated the challenge of "greens at every meal" into my life daily. For example, I had a lunch date yesterday, YES, I had a date lol, and I had a side salad with my meal. Ummm, who gets a salad at a Mexican resturaunt??? Chips and salsa were my staples. Not anymore.
I would love to hear how everyone is doing. Did we make it out of our 2/3rd week slumps? I finally did thanks to Wendy and my trainer, Ross's, encouragement. I have looked at some of the other MPMU pages and ya'll are doing sooo great!!! Keep up the good work.... I am heading out to the gym. ;)
~Katie 07 February not wellUGH! Man have I been sick! Yesterday I went to work for about an hour then left. I was so nauseous and I hurt all over. All I did for them most part is lie on the couch and moan all day. I went to work today but have not been very productive. I keep having this sharp pain in the side of my head. It is probably because I had my neck adjusted yesterday too. I thought I messed up my shoulder doing Turbo Jam but it appears I knocked my neck out of place. It took him 4 tries to get it in place. So needless to say, I do not feel good at all. The only thing I can eat is dry toast. Absolutely nothing else sounds good.
I am going to take the rest of the week off from working out to allow my body time to heal. It’s hard to do that but I know I won’t get better if I don’t. Well, not much else to say right now. As soon as I am done at work, I am going home and lay on the couch.
~~Wendy 05 February Monday night callGreat call last night!! I am so glad to meet some new people.
Yesterday we went to a health fair at Boy's Town here in Omaha. They are having a wonderful contest where the person with the most weight loss will win a cruise! WOW! That is quite the prize. We also got to hear Marty and Amy speak publically for the first time. They are very good public speakers.
I am very, very tired today so I don't have much to say. We had 8 kids at our house on Super Bowl Sunday and 5 of the 8 kids were 2 year olds. LOL! It was an experience that's for sure!
Well, I am going to run but I wanted to make sure to touch base.
~~Wendy 01 February Sorry! Conference callHi everyone!
Sorry we were not able to be on the conference call last night. We found out at the last minute that we had a business call we had to be on. Looks like they will be every Thursday night so we are going to have to cancel on Thursdays. The line is open all the time so if anyone wants to use it, you are welcome to it. We dont have to be on there for it to be used. So going forward it will be just on Monday nights. I am going to talk to Amy and see if she would be willing to drop in on the call on Monday. Her and Marty are VERY busy but I will see what I can do. We will be doing a health fair with them on Monday afternoon so I will ask her then. I will try to post a message before the call to let you all know if she will be on or not. It would be a great way to be able to ask some questions that you may have always wanted to ask a contestant.
hmmmm....I have Pam's email address too..I can see if she would as well.
Last night was just a crazy, busy night. I no sooner got done at boot camp and I had to get on this call. I was going to just blow it off but Amy was right there encouraging me to log in. What is a girl to do, right? LOL! Amy is so sweet it is hard to say no to her.
Man! This new business we are in with 'Team Biggest Loser' is going to be great! It's going to take some time but I know it's going to be worth it. We are still looking for people to join our group as "fitness buddies". So if you want to know how to get fit and help other while you get paid, please let me know. My email is coachwmt@gmail.com.
I gotta run now! Talk to eveyone soon I hope!

30 January Going to do this togetherOk! It's stupid to be mad about this. I think Team Holkins needs to work with others to have these conference calls every night. We are going to continue to take Monday and Thursday, Stephanie and Gayle will do it on Wednesday nights. Does anyone want to do it another night? My conference number can be used any time as long as someone logs in. I will put a link to Stephanie and Gayle's page later tonight when I have time. Let us know if you would be willing to host another night. It would be great to have one available every night! 29 January National Conference callok...Last night was a bust! LOL! I know it was kind of a last minute deal but we will just keep trying every Monday & Thursday nights. I can't wait to share ideas with all of you!!
~~Wendy~~ 28 January bouncing around!Ugh! Well, I am back up 2 lbs! I don’t get it. I just can’t seem to get below the 160’s. I did get down to 158 lbs for like one week. I know it’s my fault. I just don’t know where my will power is. If I could convince my hubby to just quit buying crap, I think it would be much easier. I guess we are going to need to sit down and have a serious heart to heart. It’s really not good for either one of us to be eating that stuff. It’s tough when he really doesn’t have a weight problem to try to get him to understand what I am going though. I have a BRILLIANT idea!!! Let’s try to set up a NATION WIDE conference call for those that are participating in this contest. We can have a mass conference call like twice a week to support each other. Let’s say we do it every Monday and Thursday night at 9PM-10PM(ish) Central. Here is the information:
** Conference Dial-in Number: (641) 715-3200 10PM EST / 9PM CST/ 8PM MST / 7PM PST
There is a limit of 96 people that can join but let’s see if we can fill that line and just chat about our successes and/or failures and hold each other accountable.
**It’s NOT a toll free number so if you don’t have free long distance on you cell phone, you might want to think twice. This could be FUN! That number will be good for 120 days so that should take us to the end of the challenge. Let’s start tonight!!!
**(Team Holkins assumes no responsibly for any long distance charges you might incur) 24 January I had no ideaOK everyone I SWEAR I had no idea what katie's video blog was about. She did express to me she was down about gaining some weight this week. I guess it is just a "kinship" we all have in the whole losing weight process. We who suffer from over weightness (I am making up words today) know how another feels like no one else can ever understand. That is why I don't take advice from people who have never been over weight...they just DON'T KNOW!! We may all come from different back grounds, ethnic groups and raised differently but we are the same when it comes to losing weight. Ya know what I mean?
Love Katie!!!
~~Wendy~~~ 23 January Ummm, Wendy are you reading my mind????
So, I get on and do a video blog today (see above) and lo and behold Wendy totally addresses my issue.....
I feel for ya!Hi everyone! I was reading some blog entries from others' pages and I just felt the pain of wanting to lose weight but hitting that plateau. Ladies (and gents), I know EXACTLY how you feel!! Don't give up hope! I remember when I first started people would ask me how much weight I had lost. It was early and I would tell people "only 30 lbs" or whatever it was at the time. People would look at me and say how wonderful it was but I didn't see or feel it. My goal seemed like it was SO far away and completely unattainable.
Yes, I have given up a lot of my favorite foods for the most part but IT IS WORTH IT! People ask me how I did it I just say diet, excercise, blood, sweat and tears. People thing I am kidding when I say "blood, sweat and tears" but I have encountered all of it....even the blood!
I "allow" myself to have cheat days and I have pizza and junk but we just can't do it everyday. I even allow myself to skip works outs every once in a while but I have to learn to do that and be OK with it. I AM ADDICTED TO EXERCISE!!! My parents tell people that too but I HAVE to work out or go back to where I was. WE have to do this every day just to be normal. As Amy says "there is no finish line".
I say it all the time...If I can do this, so can you! We didn't gain the weight overnight and we won't lose iit overnight either. Don't give up! Email me if you feel like giving up. Look at my pictures if you need encouragement. I didn't do anything but work out and eat a balance diet and counted calories. Don't starve yourself to do this either. Been there done that and it doesnt work.
I love every one of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
~~Wendy~~
22 January Full of it today!I am so full of energy today I think I am driving everyone nuts. I think it's because I feel rested for the first time in a long time. I started taking a low dose pain reliever at night because I am so sore all the time. I really don't like doing that but one has to get a good nights sleep. I am going to the chiropractor tonight. Last week at boot camp I had a hard time doing an exercise because it hurt my back so bad so I figured it was time for an adjustment. Katie emailed me and asked me "what kind of torture do u have in store for me?" LOL! Power 90, baby! Last night I did the Turbo Jam "Learn & Burn" and the 20 min express Turbo Jam. I am still not very coordinated so this is a really good program for me. It doesnt get my heart rate up like it does for Katie but it's good for my coordination, balance and agility. There is more to working out then just cardio and strength folks!! Everything you do helps with your over all health and well being.
My lunch break is just about over so I gotta get going. What is your workout going to be tonight?? 19 January Did I do that? Same ChallengeOK....DOWN 2 POUNDS THIS WEEK! It's the asparagus I say! LOL! Not sure what it was but they way my eating was, I find it hard to believe. It's amazing what the body does and it's hard to predict.
Same challenge for next week! No more than 100 calories a day in sweets and junk and eat fresh veggie or salad at lunch and dinner every night.
Just got off a conference call with Amy and Pam from the Biggest Loser season 3. They are such inspirations to me!!! If you want to know how to become more involved with people like Amy, Pam, Heather, Wiley (season 3) or Neil, Nicole and "B" (Season 4), email me and I can tell you! It's exciting to be a part of this amazing group of people! My personal email address is: coachwmt@gmail.com
Well, I got things to do today. It's a cold one out there so if you are in Nebraska or Iowa, bundle up1
